Jan Sjoerd Pasterkamp

Jan Sjoerd Pasterkamp was a Dutch Christian missionary, evangelist, pastor, and Bible teacher whose life was devoted to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was born on September 14, 1944, in Zaandam, the Netherlands.

Following his conversion to Christianity as a young man, Pasterkamp became convinced that God had called him to missionary service. He began his ministry through evangelism in the Netherlands before marrying Jacoba Catharina Goede, popularly known as Coby, in 1966.

Together, they embarked on a missionary journey that took them to Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Japan. Their most significant missionary work took place in Papua New Guinea, where they served for approximately fourteen years, preaching the Gospel, establishing churches, training Christian leaders, and contributing to the development of Bible schools and other ministries.

Reports associated with his ministry credit the work in Papua New Guinea with contributing to the establishment of approximately 600 congregations. After serving in the mission field, Pasterkamp returned to the Netherlands in the early 1990s, where he continued his ministry as a pastor, preacher, and spiritual mentor. He served congregations in Haarlem, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam, including the Berea churches and Evangelisch Centrum De Kandelaar. He also contributed to Christian publications and participated in wider evangelical and charismatic ministry networks.

Throughout his life, Pasterkamp was known for his emphasis on evangelism, the work of the Holy Spirit, discipleship, and the training of Christian leaders. He died on March 10, 2020, at the age of 75, leaving behind a legacy of missionary service and church development that extended across several countries. His life remains an example of dedication to Christian ministry, cross-cultural missions, and the conviction that the Gospel can transform individuals, communities, and nations.
